There are certain verbs in the Spanish language that when talked about in the past are always in the imperfect. These verbs are used to describe emotional state. They have to be in the imperfect because when they are in the preterite they have a completely different meaning.

·         Sentir

·         Pensar

·         Preferir

·         Poder

Examples:

1. Yo gustaba mi compudador.

2. Yo gustaba mi movil.

     I loved my cell phone.
